Fieldwork & Internships
My field training combines species identification and specimen preparation with ecological surveys, experimental design, and quantitative analysis. These experiences connect my computational work with organisms and their environments.
Comprehensive Field Internship in Biology
I conducted primary-forest surveys and collected plant, insect, and fungal data, including 31 fungal specimens. I used GPS and measuring tapes to document forest community structure.
I led a ten-member team comparing plant communities on north-facing and south-facing slopes. We assessed species diversity using Shannon–Wiener and Simpson indices. I coordinated data organization and visualization in Excel and R and presented the study’s findings.

Jiufeng Forest Reserve Medicinal Plant Survey
I helped design and conduct transect surveys of medicinal plants in Jiufeng National Forest Park, with detailed documentation of ten focal medicinal species.
My contributions included collecting and analyzing information for a team dataset covering 547 vascular plant species in 352 genera and 112 families, recording distribution and medicinal uses, and helping compile the Medicinal Plant Catalogue of Jiufeng. The work supported the documentation of local plant diversity and resources for conservation and sustainable use.
Field Internship in Zoology
I observed birds, insects, and amphibians in the field, studying their identification, ecology, and behavior. Using insect nets and taxonomic keys, I collected and identified 126 insect species and prepared specimens for the university museum.
I documented bird feeding and nesting behavior and photographed 39 bird species, sharing the images with local reserve authorities. I also designed and conducted a salinity-stress experiment on frog larvae, estimating LC50 values and comparing survival across salt concentrations.

Field Internship in Botany
I participated in surveys in suburban forests and the Beijing Botanical Garden, focusing on plant classification, morphology, habitat, and ecological relationships.
I prepared 132 plant specimens and compiled a plant identification guide. This work developed my practical experience in plant identification, herbarium preparation, and documenting the relationship between plant form and habitat.
